  3. Compare the classes of medications generally recommended for use in combination with metformin
  4. Differentiate traditional clinical outcomes trials from cardiovascular safety trials
  5. Describe the findings of cardiovascular safety trials demonstrating cardiovascular benefit
  6. Select pharmacologic treatment for use in combination with metformin that includes consideration of cardiovascular safety and benefit
